Of First Importance

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day
according to the Scriptures” (First Corinthians 15:3-4)

Community Bible Church believes, practices, and preaches the Gospel, the good news that Jesus
Christ died for sinful humanity, that He was buried, and rose from the dead.

The Bad News: Romans 3:23 states that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” All
of us have disobeyed God’s perfect and holy commands, and because God is holy (Isaiah 6:3),
which means that He is completely set apart from sin, He can’t ignore our sin. The first half of
Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death.” What our sin has earned us is spiritual death;
our relationship with this holy God is broken because of our sin, and nothing we do can mend it.

The Good News: The second half of Romans 6:23 states, “but the free gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God has made a way for our broken relationship with Him to be
reconciled! Jesus Christ, God in human flesh (John 1:14), perfectly obeyed God’s commands (1
Peter 2:22), died on the cross in our place – taking on the punishment we deserve (Isaiah 53:5),
and rose again three days later (1 Corinthians 15:20-21).

Next Steps: If you believe that this is true, call out to God. Romans 10:9 states, “if you confess
with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved.” Jesus says in Mark 9, “Repent and believe the gospel.” Turn from your
destructive sin, and cling to Jesus in faith. If you have placed your faith in Christ, we would love
to talk to you! Our Sunday school service is at 9 a.m. and our main service is at 10 a.m.
